Sintering Services

Sintering Services

Sintering is a heating process that bonds adjacent particles in a powder mass to increase strength and density.  High temperature vacuum sintering services are performed at elevated temperatures below the melting point of the metal, up to 2650°F, and higher for refractory metals.

Solar Atmospheres has gained significant experience over many years in the technology of sintering services of stainless steels, other iron based materials, chromium based metals, titanium alloys, and refractory metals such as tantalum, tungsten and molybdenum.  Many types of sintering services are performed in Solar’s array of vacuum furnaces to meet the chemistry and physical characteristic requirements of various end products.

Solar sinters in vacuum or in partial pressure with a variety of process gases such as hydrogen, argon, nitrogen or a combination of vacuum and gas atmospheres.

Solar provides sintering services on such products as:

  • MIM (metal injection molded) parts
  • PIM (powder injection molded) parts
  • Pressed powdered metal
  • Nanopowders
  • Raw material metals powders for resizing (very fine sized production by-products)

Solar Atmospheres Research and Development Team is always available to your scientist and engineers for help with cycle development as a means to achieve a value added sintering services process for your end product needs.

 Solar Advantage:

  • Wide array of furnaces sizes: Small scale lab furnaces (<10 lbs) up to large scale car-bottom furnace (10,000 lbs)
  • High temperature high vacuum furnace systems
  • Multi-gas applications (hydrogen, nitrogen, argon, helium)
  • Gas quenching capability- atmospheric and high pressure gas quenching
  • Access to a R&D team consisting of dedicated scientist, engineers, and metallurgists
