The Metal Treating Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit trade association that was established in 1933. MTI represents the largest network of commercial heat treaters in the world. MTI also represents manufacturers with in-house heat treating operations and suppliers who serve both commericial and captive heat treaters.

APMI International was formed in 1959 as a nonprofit, professional society serving the technical and informational needs of individuals interested or involved in the science and art of powder metallurgy. APMI is the single best source of information about the most up-to-date developments and advances in this dynamic, expanding technology through its publications, conferences and local section activities.

NACE International was originally known as "The National Association of Corrosion Engineers" when it was established in 1943 by eleven corrosion engineers in the pipeline industry. These founding members were involved in a regional cathodic protection group formed in the 1930s, when the study of cathodic protection was introduced. With more than 60 years of experience in developing corrosion prevention and control standards, NACE International has become the largest organization in the world committed to the study of corrosion.
The leading U.S. based metalcasting society that assists member companies (metalcasting facilities, diecasters and industry suppliers) and individuals to effectively manage all production operations, profitably market their products and services and to equitably manage their employees. The American Foundry Society also promotes the interests of the metalcasting industry before the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. With the direction of its volunteer committee structure, the professional staff of the American Foundry Society provides support in the areas of technology, management and education to further activities that will enhance the economic progress of the metalcasting industry.
The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with a goal to advance the science, technology and application of welding and related joining disciplines.
